Hi, here is some information of who I am. my biography so to speak.
I was born 26th of February 1978 In a town called Haren in the Netherlands. I grew up here, went to school here mostly, and had my best times of my life here. Groningen, the city nearby, was and still is my most favourite town in the Netherlands. I still go there when I go out.
I lived in Haren until I was 15. In the summer of 1993, me, my brother and parents moved to a little farm in a town called Beilen. (the LANfarm)
When we moved to Beilen I also changed schools. Not because the distance to my old school was to far from my new home but simply because I was tired of that school and they were tired of me. In the new school I could learn more practical application of things instead of learning "theoretical" stuff from books. It was the "lower agricultural" school. I was and am very much interested in animals and I had great fun there and learned allot about how to handle (farm)animals.
After I graduated in 1995 I went to the USA to do a year of high school. After I told the exchange student agency what I liked (horses, cows and dogs and things) they dropped me on a farm in Montana. On the farm there were a whole bunch of cows to play with and a couple of horses and few dogs. I had the time of my life, met a lot of people, saw a lot of wildlife, went on the hunting trips, and, my most favourite thing to see, rodeos.
In 1996 I came back to the Netherlands and went to "middle agricultural" school. I, again, had loads of fun there, this time though, it did not feel like I learned allot of new stuff. Anyway, I graduated in 1999 and went to Utrecht and worked a year as a kitchen helper in a restaurant kitchen of an old folks home. Even though I had a lot of fun there, I knew it wasn't what I wanted to do all my life. (no seriously, it was not) so in 2000 I quit that job and went to Belgium to work with horses. I worked there for 7 months in a jumping stable but went away after a (to) long time of fights with the rider. After this I worked for 3 months at a stud farm. Some friends allowed me to work there until I could find something new. In spring 2001 I went back to the Netherlands and worked again at a jumping stable. I worked here for 2 years but had to leave to find a job with less hours due to a knee injury. In 2003 I worked at a breeding farm where I worked for half a year until I found a better job.. I think I liked this farm the most in my horse career.
In January 2004 I found a job with a future. I wanted to quit working with horses for a while anyway because I never came home without a bruise or two. Now I work at the biological research center, university of Groningen where I am an animal caretaker. No horses here but plenty of mice, rats, fish and birds. I have great fun there and even went to live in Haren again. I've bought an apartment there where I live with my two dogs Jill and Luna and my bourke parakeet named Bob. recently I even brought one of my horses to Haren to pick up the horse riding again. an other hobby of mine is training dogs which I do every thursday night and saterday morning.
Well, this is it for me right now... I hope u got an idea of who I am and what keeps me busy in daily life. :)
